Influenced by two decades of travel to central Mexico and the legacy of her grandparents, who immigrated from Mexico to Montecito, CA, her art reflects the rich cultural traditions passed down through generations. Her grandparents’ cozy stucco home, nestled within a grand estate her grandfather managed, left a lasting impression. The vivid contrast between the homes—one filled with the warmth of family, the other adorned with art and grandeur—shapes her aesthetic. Erika paints from a place rooted in personal history, capturing who she is and what she envisions.
