Founding Artiste Winery in 2002 allowed me to merge these two loves. The first vintage we produced featured art by James-Paul Brown on the label, which was a pivotal moment that set the tone for our art-inspired approach.
How do you approach the blending process?
Bion Rice: Blending is a deeply intuitive and experimental process. We start with a vision, often inspired by a piece of artwork, and then we taste and blend different wines to match that vision. It’s about finding a balance where the final product evokes the same emotions and sensory responses as the artwork.
